Dashwood: No more swinging from the chandelier at Wall Street Journal

Dentist's not-so good vibrations

Enough is enough, says Chelsea dentist, Jonathan Tan.

The small businessman has gone to the highest authorities – well, Greg Hands MP and Dashwood – to complain about an underground extension by his neighbour, the Cantor Fitzgerald finance chief, Greg Hutt.

Tan claims that the “noise, dirt and vibration” from the banker’s construction work will mean his practice will fail to meet health and safety standards set by the Care Quality Commission. In short, he could go out of business for up to a year.

More than 200 of Tan’s patients are similarly up in arms. But the Hutts, who have already got the green light from the council, maintain their sub-garden dugout follows planning requirements “scrupulously”.

“Our plans are modest,” Hutt’s wife, Iolanda, tells Dashwood. “Just a couple of small family rooms to give extra space for our three-year-old son.”

Watch out – the City’s M&A animal spirits are recovering.

That is the word on the street from College Group, the financial communications company, which is moving into the Gresham Street offices recently vacated by JP Morgan.

It’s part of a wider expansion for the PR outfit as it consolidates its recent global expansion – and, naturally, these broader horizons require a new name.

Drumroll please: the adviser formerly known as College Hill is now … Instinctif Partners, as the rest of the City will find out tomorrow.
