The Government’s Universal Jobsmatch website is proud to have contributed to the record number of Britons getting back into work.
Unfortunately, not all its job ads are legitimate – unless the Sicilian Mafia really is recruiting for an “international courier” at Cosa Nostra Holdings.
As Lord Freud, the work and pensions under-secretary, confessed last week, the Government’s official jobs site has been hit by a “small amount of fraud” – around one in every 1,000 posts are bogus.
“We clear them off,” he said.
A shame, because Dashwood was dusting off her CV for the exciting opportunity of “MI6 Target Elimination Specialist”.

Goldman Sachs chief becomes a peasant
What will the Goldman Sachs board make of the bank’s former chairman, Stephen Friedman, traversing a fantastical realm populated by bloodthirsty warriors and screeching dragons?
They can tune in to the next series of HBO’s fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, in which Friedman has a small cameo, to find out.
Dashwood hears George W Bush’s former aide will be the character dressed in peasant garb, who walks down a dirt path carrying a basket with a stern look on his face.
It’s a masterful acting debut from Friedman, albeit helped by the fact that his son, David, is the show’s co-creator.
But Friedman, currently chairing the private equity firm Stone Point Capital, knows his artistic limits.
He said in a statement: “I have been advised not to give up my day job.” Wizard.
