Informa returns to UK after five-year tax exile

Posted by Unknown on Friday, May 30, 2014

London-listed Informa, despite its British heritage, makes the vast majority of its sales outside the UK.

It was just one of several large companies, including drug maker Shire, and advertising giant WPP, that fled the UK for the same reasons. WPP moved its headquarters back to the UK last year, though Shire is still domiciled in Ireland.

The Treasury last year reversed this move and has also sharply cut corporation tax, which has fallen from 26pc to 21pc since 2011 and will dip again to 2010.

The publishing house, which is also home to the Taylor & Francis and Routledge imprints, first announced plans to reshore to the UK in December but received the all-clear from shareholders on Thursday.

It has said the relocation will help simplify the group's management structure and business operations.
