London Stock Exchange reveals £938m rights issue

Posted by Unknown on Friday, August 22, 2014

The LSE will raise net proceeds of £938m through a fully under-written rights issue, which will offer three shares for every existing 11 shares. The shares will be offered at £12.95, a 30pc discount to the group's closing price on Thursday.

Xavier Rolet, chief executive, said the bourse had been boosted by the step-up in IPOs during 2014.

He said: "We continue to make good progress, delivering a strong financial performance this quarter with an increase in operating profit, reflecting organic growth and inorganic revenues across the group.

"We have seen a resurgence in the IPO market with an increase in both the number of companies joining our markets and the amount of money raised. While the summer period is seasonally slower, our diversified business is very well positioned for further growth."

Mr Rolet said the Russell deal will "help to expand the global footprint of the group, particularly in the key US market".
