Heather McGregor, former investment banker and author of Financial Advice for Independent Women says the key to women taking control of their money is to spend an hour a week working on their personal finances.
Although 80% of McGregor's book's contents is equally applicable to men, there are a few reasons, she says, why women should pay special attention to their finances:
Women live longer, and are therefore more likely to end up alone. Historically, women have taken a back seat, with the majority of bank managers being men, and women typically take breaks to raise children and have therefore earnt less than men.
