Price rises of British flats tower over other types of home
Apartment prices have soared by more than £50,000 over the past ten years, according to new data from halifax out today (Monday).
The average cost of a flat in the UK has risen by £51,000 over the last decade driven by the high proportion of first-time buyers purchasing apartments in London.
Prices have jumped from £157,172 in 2004 to £208,169 in 2014.
This new data coincided with an announcement from British Land announcing that the property group has sold 18 apartments at record prices.
Britain's largest commercial and residential company has exchanged on the sale of its super-prime development, Clarges Mayfair, reflecting an average capital value of £4,750 per sq ft as well as setting new highs for prices in Mayfair.
